This series tries to bring into public awareness a continuous history of chemists engaged in philosophical debates and to foster further research by brief biographical sketches. Rather than providing complete biographies with all their chemical achievements, emphasis is on the philosophical issues raised by the chemists, with related primary and (if available) secondary references. If you are interested in writing such a biography of one the chemists listed below or if you have further suggestions, please contact the Editor.
