Young Sense steering group

The Young Sense steering group is a small group of Young Sense members who tell us what they want from their network.

The steering group meet once a year, and we talk about what the group enjoyed about the last event and what they would like to do next time, as well as likes and dislikes and new ideas for the Chatterbox newsletter.

Can I be on the steering group?

If you are a member of Young Sense you might want to be on the steering group.
To be on the Young Sense steering group, you need to be:

  • Interested in being involved in making decisions about the Young Sense Network
  • Able to share your thoughts and ideas with the rest of the group, and to listen to their thoughts and ideas
  • Able to treat everyone in the group equally and with respect. This means remembering that everyone has useful things to say, giving everybody a fair chance to say what they think, and not saying things that are rude to people or make fun of them

I am interested in the steering group but I may need assistance from an interpreter or communicator guide

Everyone is welcome! We will talk to you before the meetings about what kind of support you will need to take part.

This will depend on you, but it might be a hearing loop system, a sign language interpreter, a deafblind manual interpreter, a communicator guide, someone to look after your guide dog, or someone to help you with your daily routine. We will put the right support in place to enable you to fully engage in the meeting.

What happened at the last steering group?

At the last meeting, four steering group members visited the Sense office in London. To find out what they talked about you can contact Rosie Tabrizi for copies of the minutes.
