For politicians and policy-makers
An introduction to deafblindness and the work of Sense
Deafblindness is a combination of both sight and hearing impairments.
The complex impact of dual-sensory loss means that it is a unique disability and deafblind people face different barriers to people with a single visual or hearing impairment.
Barriers to communication, access to information, and mobility present major challenges for deafblind people.
There are an estimated 250,000 deafblind people in the UK.
