Lombard

Lombard adopted Sense as their Charity of the Year for 2010-2011.

Lombard logoAs part of the partnership, Lombard employees took part in Battleshops, the Three Peaks Challenge, the Ridge Walk, and the Sense in the City Quiz. They have also organised a golf day, samosa sales in the office, and their executive board undertook a team challenge to build benches at a Sense project.

The ‘Apprentice-style’ Battleshops challenge involved 140 employees taking over 20 Sense shops across the country.

The challenge, after stocking the shops, was in using their initiative and customer service skills to see which shop could make the greatest profit.

In Lombard’s largest-ever corporate social responsibility event, they competed against each other to raise a staggering £68,000 towards Sense’s work.

"Lombard employees were excited to be involved in such a unique event as Battleshops. It showed-off their entrepreneurial talents.

"I was taken aback by the teams’ outstanding efforts and ideas for raising monies for this very worthwhile cause."
Craig Allington, Director of Asset Finance

New benchmarks

A team of Lombard employees took on the challenge of climbing the three highest peaks in Britain and raised more than £30,000 for Sense.

The executive team undertook a unique exercise at the Garden Room in Birmingham. With two fully accessible and adapted workshops for instruction and training in woodwork, pottery and ceramics, the Garden Room is set-up for deafblind people to build garden furniture, which is then sold.

Lombard’s team were challenged to build garden benches, which they raffled to their colleagues and associates. As a result, their efforts raised £4,000 for Sense.

"While we help to raise funds for the vital services Sense provides to deafblind people, supporting them also offers our staff new challenges outside of their comfort zones, and the opportunity to develop themselves.

"It’s tremendous that we are able to support Sense – but it is very much a two-way relationship, and Lombard employees also get a great deal of out working together."
Shane Thomas, Chairman of the Lombard Corporate Social Responsibility Board

Lombard's Charity of the Year partnership with Sense raised more than £130,000.

We are hugely grateful for Lombard’s support, and are proud to have been their Charity of the Year for 2010-2011.
