Legal rights

If you are deafblind, or supporting a deafblind person, it can be difficult to know what legal rights you have and how to assert them.

These pages set out what the law says in four key areas:

  • Your entitlement to the health and social care you need
  • What protection you have against discrimination
  • Getting a special educational needs statement for your child
  • The rules that apply when someone lacks the mental capacity to make their own decisions.

Sense has a small legal team who can advise you on your legal entitlements and protections, discuss options with you, and help you to assert your rights.

Find out how the legal team works and what help they can offer you.
