The Government's proposals on social care

Changes to social care are being made in both England and Wales, but in different ways. Sense wants to see both systems work for deafblind people.

In England

The Government has published a White Paper and a draft Bill setting out what they plan to do to reform adult social care.

In Wales

The Welsh Government has introduced its Social Services & Well-being (Wales) Bill to change social care and support law in Wales for children, adults and carers.

Sense is working with the sensory sector in Wales – including RNIB Cymru and Action on Hearing Loss Cymru - to campaign for changes to the law to make it work better for deafblind people and people with single sensory loss.

Sense is also a member of the Social Services & Well-being Bill Advisory Group, which is assisting Assembly Members with briefings and suggested questions to ask the Welsh Government about how the Bill will work.

You can find out more about the progress of the Bill on the Welsh Assembly website or get involved with the campaign in Wales.

For the latest briefings and information visit the Social Services & Wellbeing Bill section for politicians and policy-makers.

The issues

Sense has some key issues we would like to see addressed by the reforms, to ensure that deafblind people continue to receive the support that they currently receive and that the system is improved.
