Fundraiser makes deafblind teenagers' dreams come true

30 August 2011

Deafblind teenagers from across Cornwall collected a cheque from local fundraiser, Emlyn Stone, at the Truro Sight Centre yesterday on their way to Alton Towers theme park.

The £500 donation is from the Emlyn Stone Fund Raising Account (ESFRA/C) to the Cornwall Get Out There (GOT) Group for deafblind teenagers, run by Sense.

The generous donation covered the cost of a group trip to Alton Towers theme park where the teenagers were able to experience the famous rollercoasters and hair-raising rides first-hand.

St. Day man Emlyn Stone, a serial fundraiser for Cornwall-based causes said:

"I’m delighted to be handing over this cheque to the GOT Group and supporting such a fantastic local Cornish cause. It’s important that all teenagers are able to enjoy the range of activities that other young people their age experience."

Simon Allison, GOT Group coordinator from Sense, said:

"The GOT Group gives its members the chance to ‘Get Out There’ and have fun like other teenagers. We’re extremely grateful for Emlyn’s donation."
