Born on the 4th of July - new Sense shop in Penge
03 July 2012
Jim Dowd, MP for Lewisham West & Penge, cut the ribbon to open a brand new Sense charity shop in Penge on Wednesday 4 July.
Mr Dowd grew up in the local area and has been serving it in office for over 30 years, first as Mayor of Lewisham and now as the local MP for 20 years.
According to Zoe Brown, Shop Manager: “We were so excited to have Jim Dowd MP opening our new shop, particularly as he has such strong links to the community.”
Jim Dowd MP said: “I was delighted to open this charity shop as it will provide volunteering opportunities for Penge people, and also help Sense continue its great work for deafblind people who need support to participate and communicate in our locality.”
Sense is asking for volunteers who might have some spare time to help out as well as any donations of books, music, clothes, shoes, household ornaments, and furniture.
