About Willow
Seven-year-old Willow has a condition that means she struggles to process what she sees and hears. And that means she can only know it is playtime by what she can smell and touch.
How Sense supports Willow
At the Sense Woodside Family Centre we use sensory toys to help deafblind children learn that they can interact with their environment and make things happen. In this photo she’s in the garden with her dad riding her tricycle.
"Woodside is the only place I can go with Willow, where I know she will feel comfortable and have a great time, and that everyone understands her."
Becky, Willow's mum
Willow loves beads, and when she runs her hands through them she is transfixed. It is a way for Willow to interact with the world around her.
It is hugely rewarding to see how our specialist toys give deafblind children an insight into their environment.
By giving £25 today you could give a deafblind child an interactive light tube to play with that will develop any vision they have.
£500 could provide the deafblind children at the Sense Woodside Centre with a toy box containing a range of sensory toys.
